Question 1

Where will the October 2025 Strides for Obesity Walk take place?

Accepted Answer

We will start in the Victoria General Hospital parking lot (1276 South Park St). Look for the Strides Registration tent.
Walk through the parking lot and exit right onto South Park St.
Head south on South Park St toward Inglis St, staying on the righthand side of the street.
At the corner of South Park St / Inglis St, turn right onto Inglis St and head west. 
After reaching the corner of Inglis St / Robie St, turn right onto Robie St, head north.
At the corner of Robie St / University Ave, turn right onto University Ave, and head east.
Upon reaching the VG parking lot, turn right, back onto the parking lot and pass through the balloon arch.

*Participants will remain on sidewalks only and will obey traffic laws. Volunteers will help with street crossings and directions along the route.

Question 2

What if I can’t physically do the 3K walk or run but want to come show my support?

Accepted Answer

A. We understand that for many individuals with obesity that a 3K walk or run may seem daunting, so we only would ever expect you to do what you know you are capable of. 
At any point, you can head back to the Victoria General parking lot. No one will think any less of you! The most important thing is you come to the event and make us proud! This event is most importantly about increasing awareness.

Question 3

Is there anywhere to store my personal belongings on site?

Accepted Answer

A. We encourage all participants to only bring items with them what they can carry in a backpack, waist pouch, or on their body as we do not anywhere to store personal belongings.

Question 4

Will there be washrooms available to use?

Accepted Answer

A. We will have portable washrooms beside the Bethune Building for participants to use.

Question 5

What about participants in wheelchairs?

Accepted Answer

A. Wheelchair access is available along the route. Participants will be using sidewalks for the entire walk, keeping everyone on the same path!

Question 6

Are dogs, stroller, bicycles, and skates allowed on event day?

Accepted Answer

A. Dogs and strollers are welcome along the walk/run route. To be fair to those wanting to run, dogs and strollers should start at the back of the start line. As for inline skates, bicycles, scooters, and skateboards, for safety reasons they are not permitted at the event.

What happens if it rains the day of the event?

Accepted Answer

A. The Strides for Obesity event will happen rain or shine, so make sure to bring the appropriate gear for whatever weather we may be expecting.
